The Goat Girl’s Missive
Experimental Sound/Music Compositions by Merlin Coleman

The Goat Girls Missive is a collection of sonic messages delivered to you by Merlin Coleman, cello and spoken word artist, composer, dancer, experimental theater creator, organic farmer, and poet.

This project takes its inspiration from traditional Fairy Tales that have been refurbished and refreshed to put a new spin on the old by reconstructing their meaning via original, recorded compositions. This album, released as a full-length CD with artwork, is something you can hold in your hand, and available for purchase via Merlin’s website: www.merlinman.com.

Merlin says, “In these sonic tales you may find wolves who do not get what they deserve, spinning wheels that collide with modern machinery, and horses, chickens, and witches who may be sucked down a kitchen sink drain in a matter of seconds.” All of the voices and sounds are made by Merlin unless otherwise noted, with guest vocal contributions on a number of tracks from Nils Frykdahl and Bob Ernst. Post-production by Eric Oberthaler.

Reviews:

Musician Carla Kihlstadt: “Lovely, like a dream…your own looking glass you've let us step through!” The Faun-Frykdahls Family, Musicians/Performers (Dawn and Nils and daughters): “We agree with the vegetable argument! Lots of fun here… Gudrin (age 7) says, ‘Like it!’ Edda (age 12) says, ‘I like the cello; the sound and tempo go very well with the vocals!’ Elizabeth Herron, Poet: “Merlin’s work is so entirely original and playful, and incredibly evocative. These pieces manifest such artistry and charm without being in the slightest bit cynical, which permeates so much art these days. Her work enchants, and all enchantment refreshes the soul.”
